Classical Drawing II & III

Classical Drawing 2 and 3

Level: Intermediate (Completion of Classical Drawing 1)

You will expand your drawing and observational skills by drawing from life using the sight-size method.  You will expand your mastery of drawing media--graphite, charcoal, pastel, sanguine, and India Ink/watercolor pigments.  Class exercises and still-life set-ups are designed to expand your observational skills, and learn how to accurately use photographic references.  Students also select and old master drawing to study by copying.  You will continue to develop your own personal style.  Each class features instructor demonstrations, individual instruction, and group critiques.

Large Scale Drawing

Level: Intermediate and Advanced (Completion of Classical Drawing 1, 2, 3)

Change from micro to macro!  You will expand your drawing and observational skills as we expand the size of our drawings.  Switching from an 8" x 10" drawing size to 24" x 36" requires new techniques and new approaches to working.  You have the entire 6 weeks to complete one large scale drawing in your choice of medium: graphite, charcoal, sanguine, or chalk pastel.

Each class begins with a warm-up drawing exercise designed to enhance your mastery of drawing elements--materials, composition, mark-making, color theory and subject matter.  Instructor critiques, group discussions, and one-on-one instruction at each class.
